Excellent article by Keith Hampson on The EdTech Times. I’ve seen the same thing recently and it is interesting – higher level administration is getting comfortable with using resources and content from institutions other than their own. This was unheard of until very recently. Keith believes the motivation is financially driven. I agree, as IP has always been highly guarded within research universities. The adaptation is most likely seen as a necessity and not truly desirable, but whatever the reason, it will be interesting to see what comes from building knowledge outside of one’s own academy. Perhaps it can drive more expansive collaboration – it will be interesting to see.
