I couldn’t help but share this article by Edward O’Neill. This is a topic we discuss more and more frequently – he examines the difference between scholars and teachers. I would have used the contrast of subject matter expert as opposed to scholar, but the terms are interchangeable in this instance. Being a great scholar/subject matter expert is not the same thing as being a great teacher. There is value to both, explained in his post. But it needs to recognized and resources used accordingly. Fantastic articulation of an issue that deserves more attention.
